"Euphoria": remember all of Sydney Sweeney's controversies

American actress Sydney Sweeney, 28, drew attention when she starred in a controversial scene in the new and final season of "Euphoria".

In the scene, the star starred in a frontal nude in a sex scene with actor Homer Gere. Although scenes like this are not new to the audiovisual world, the production has received criticism from the public for exaggerating the sexualization of scenes involving Cassie, the actress' character. The season and its creator, Sam Levison, have also been questioned by viewers for the hypersexualization of its plot and the unnecessarily explicit scenes, especially with its actresses.

In early 2025, the actress announced the sale of a line of bar soaps made with water from her own bath from the Dr. Squatch brand. American Eagle jeans
In a campaign titled "Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans", launched in July 2023, the pun between "genes" and "jeans" was accused of having a racial nature and suggesting genetic superiority, given that the actress is a white, blonde, thin, light-eyed woman.

Another point raised was the similarity of the 2025 campaign with Brooke Shields' 1991 ad for Calvin Klein. At the time, the 15-year-old actress made a sexual advertisement about her clothing and the correlation of Sidney's sexualization to American Eagle.

When commenting on what happened to People magazine, Sydney declared: "Many have attributed reasons and labels to me that are simply not true. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm always trying to bring people together. I am against hate and polarization."

Political positioning
After the actress suffered a "cancellation" over American Eagle jeans, it came to light that Sydney is a registered Republican Party voter.
