Múcio meets with the Milei government today to offer military products

The Minister of Defense, José Múcio Monteiro, meets this Tuesday (26), in Buenos Aires, with authorities from the government of Argentine President, Javier Milei, to present a catalog of products from the Brazilian defense industry, in an agenda aimed at expanding military and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

The main meeting of the trip will be with the Argentine Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Alberto Presti.

The meeting is expected to serve to present equipment produced by Brazilian companies, including weapons, ammunition, aircraft, drones, vessels, communication systems and radars.

Among the products that will be offered to the Argentine government are missiles, rockets, bombs, light and less lethal weapons, as well as armored vehicles, surface ships, submarines, helicopters and satellites.

The catalog brought by Múcio brings together more than 300 products manufactured by state-owned companies, such as Imbel and Emgepron, in addition to more than 140 private companies considered strategic for national defense, including Embraer, Helibras, Taurus and Condor.

"It is a commercial visit with a diplomatic tone, because the minister understands that defense diplomacy is independent of governments. Defense is a State institution", said the Ministry of Defense to CNN Brasil.

The trip takes place at a time when the Milei government seeks to strengthen and modernize the Argentine Armed Forces. In recent months, Argentina has acquired F-16 fighters and Stryker armored vehicles from the United States as part of a military re-equipment program.

Earlier this month, Milei signed a decree determining that 10% of the revenue obtained from sales, rentals or privatization of State assets be allocated to modernization, infrastructure and the purchase of military equipment.

Múcio's agenda is also part of a broader strategy by the Brazilian government to expand the presence of the national defense industry in South America. A new trip, this time to Peru, is already planned for July.
