Andrés Sanchez is expelled from Corinthians membership

The former president of Corinthians Andrés Sanchez was expelled from the club's membership on Monday night (25). The vote among the club's corporate staff took place in a session held at Parque São Jorge under a lot of pressure from the fans, who attended the club's headquarters.

The vote began with support for the ethics of the process, and soon after, both parties spoke for 20 minutes. Around 135 members were present. In an open vote, 112 chose to be expelled, 49 to remain and six abstained.

Open vote and suspension
Before voting began, one of the alternatives presented was the suspension of the former president from the corporate board for six months. In this scenario, Sanchez would lose his political rights and be removed from Corinthians' day-to-day politics, but the option did not go ahead.

Fans celebrate
Present in force at Parque São Jorge, Corinthians fans celebrated the expulsion. Members of the club's main organizations set off fireworks and celebrated the result of the vote, as did some of the councilors.

With the favorable score, many were already celebrating the result even before it was made official.

Understand Sanchez's expulsion from Corinthians' membership

According to an investigation by the Public Ministry, carried out by prosecutor Cássio Conserino, Andrés Sanchez's expenses on the corporate card exceed R$480 thousand. The former president was denounced by the MP for tax crimes, embezzlement and money laundering.

According to the Public Ministry, the club's credit card was used to purchase imported watches, clothes and medical care. All uses came with Andrés Sanchez's name on the invoice.
