Banco do Brasil reaffirms its commitment to financing agribusiness even amidst the rise in default rates in the sector in the country. The bank's credit portfolio, according to José Ricardo Sasseron, Vice President of Government and Corporate Sustainability at the Bank, encourages projects aimed at sustainability in the sector, an increasingly recurring concern in the market.
During Eco Invest Brasil, this Monday (25), Sasseron highlighted the importance of investments in socio-bioeconomy. "In our agricultural portfolio, a large part is for sustainable and low-carbon production, we encourage the sector to be increasingly sustainable, as in the second part of the auction, where the resources were allocated to reforestation projects. In addition to supporting agriculture, we want a more sustainable field", he told CNN Brasil.
Banco do Brasil led fundraising in the fourth auction of the Eco Invest Brasil Program, by securing R$1.5 billion for socio-bioeconomy, sustainable tourism and infrastructure projects in the Legal Amazon. The operation allowed leverage greater than four times the amount raised, enabling R$6.4 billion in investments in the region.
