The president of the CNI (National Confederation of Industry), Ricardo Alban, said, in an interview with CNN Brasil, this Monday (25), that the end of the 6×1 work schedule will have immediate effects on the final price for consumers.

"The first impact we will have will be the increase in prices, there is nowhere to go. Prices will increase and harm the workers themselves", said Alban.

According to him, the reduction in working hours will increase production costs, increasing pressure on sales prices and generating inflationary risks in the market in general.

The president of the CNI classified the idea that the end of the 6×1 scale will be beneficial for workers as a "narrative". For Ricardo Alban, in addition to increasing costs, the change will reduce the supply and quality of jobs.

When asked about the status of conversations with Congress and the likelihood of this change being approved as it is a popular agenda, Alban pointed out that the industrial sector has spoken to parliamentarians, but is facing difficulties.

"We always preserve the dialogue, we did it with Hugo Motta [president of the Chamber] and with Leo Prates [rapporteur for the PEC of 6×1], but unfortunately this narrative that this is good for workers gets in the way. We have to change this narrative that it will be good for employees", said the president of the CNI.

"What we tried to do in the dialogue in the Chamber and that we were unable to do, we will try to do in the Senate with President Davi Alcolumbre", added Alban.

Rules defined in the Chamber
The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), said, this Monday (25), that the proposal to end the 6×1 scale will determine a 40-hour working week and a transition period of one year.

In a meeting this morning with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), a two-hour reduction in weekly working hours was agreed upon 60 days after the promulgation of the new rule. Then, after 12 months, a maximum working day of 40 hours must be implemented.

The 60 days will be counted after the new amendment to the Constitution is made official, that is, after approval in both legislative Houses. The President of the Chamber's intention is to vote on the text this week and send the proposal for analysis by the Senate.

The rapporteur of the proposal, deputy Leo Prates (Republicanos-BA) presented these rules in his report for the PEC at the end of the 6×1. The reading of the text took place in the early evening of this Monday, in the special committee that debates the change of day.

The text also establishes that collective agreements may increase the duration of work to more than 8 hours per day, for a transition period of 12 months. The measure would be to respect the ceiling of 42 hours per week at this time.

The end of the 6×1 scale and the transition to two days of rest would also be made 60 days after the promulgation of the text.
