Israel will intensify attacks against Hezbollah, says Netanyahu

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated this Monday (25) that Israel is at war with Hezbollah and that it will intensify attacks against the group in Lebanese territory.

Subsequently, the Israeli army reported that it is attacking infrastructure used by the group in the Becaa Valley region and other areas of Lebanon.

Support from the American government
A United States official signaled Washington's support for the continuation of Israeli operations against Hezbollah, stating on Monday that "Israel should never be forced to passively absorb attacks against its forces and civilians."

"Since April 17, Hezbollah has fired more than a thousand drones and more than 700 rockets in an attempt to derail ongoing negotiations between Lebanon and Israel. The current situation is unsustainable," the official said.

"Hezbollah is fully responsible for the current situation," the official added. "The group broke the ceasefire on March 2 and is now trying to prevent the Lebanese people from having a path to peace and reconstruction."

The comments come amid ongoing negotiations to end the war in Iran. Tehran has also called for an end to the war in Lebanon.

There was also a continuation of attacks between Israel and Hezbollah, despite an apparent ceasefire brokered by the United States. Israeli operations continued in southern Lebanon this Monday and killed at least three people, according to the NNA (Lebanon National News Agency).

The Israeli Armed Forces reported a series of explosive drones launched by Hezbollah during the early hours of Monday against several locations on the Israeli side of the border.

The Army also reported the impact of a drone in southern Lebanon, in an area currently controlled by Israeli soldiers. There are no reports of injuries in the attacks.

On Sunday (24), the head of the Israeli Army, Eyal Zamir, stated that he had approved plans for the "continuation of fighting in the north", in reference to Israel's campaign against Hezbollah.
