Tiger Woods broke his silence on social media this Monday (25) with a post paying tribute to his father, Earl Woods, and other veterans on Memorial Day, a holiday that honors military personnel killed in service in the United States.

"My father was a Special Forces operator, with two tours in Vietnam and 20 years of service," Woods wrote in X. "To all those like my father, we thank you for your sacrifices. Without them, we would not have the greatest country on Earth."

The message was Woods' first social media post since March 31, when he announced he would step away from the golf scene to focus on his health and a "lasting recovery."

Earl Woods, who retired as a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army, died in 2006 at age 74.

Tiger Woods, 50, returned to Switzerland on Sunday (24), apparently to resume the rehabilitation process he began after his arrest on March 27 for driving under the influence of alcohol following an accident near his home in Florida. He spent about ten days in the American state.

Owner of 15 major titles and 82 victories on the PGA Tour circuit, Woods is said to be undergoing "intense" psychological treatment to deal with what has been described as an addiction to painkillers.
