Gabriel Ganley: IML report indicates the cause of the bodybuilder's death; look

Bodybuilder Gabriel Ganley, aged 22, found dead on Saturday (23), died suddenly caused by hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in the heart. This is what the result of the boy's death certificate indicates.

The information was confirmed to CNN Brasil by sources from the IML (Legal Medical Institute). The genetic disease affects the myocardium, a muscle in the heart, where it becomes abnormally thick.

The athlete's body was found in the property where he lived, located in the Mooca neighborhood, east of São Paulo.

According to the police report, family members and people close to them had not been able to contact Gabriel since Thursday night (21). Faced with a lack of responses, a longtime friend and co-worker was called and went to the apartment on Saturday morning.

Upon arriving at the scene, the friend noticed that the lights in the residence remained on. As he did not receive a response to calls, he entered the property with the help of those responsible for the condominium after breaking in the door and Gabriel was found lying face down on the kitchen floor.

The police record indicates that the young man's face was red and there was a large amount of blood in the facial region, but highlights that no apparent signs of violence or struggle were identified in the environment, which was clean and organized.

When touching the body to check breathing, the friend found that the skin was already cold and called the Military Police on 911.

Initially, the case was registered by the 42nd DP (Parque São Lucas) as a suspicious death - sudden death, with no apparent determining cause.

During the technical examination carried out, authorities found and seized several medications in the apartment, preliminarily described as possible anabolic steroids, which were sent for analysis.

Affectionately known as "little baby", Gabriel accumulated more than 1.5 million followers on social networks where he shared his training routine and diet.

Before dedicating himself to creating content for the internet, he studied Physical Education at UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro). The athlete was in the preparation phase to compete in Musclecontest Brasil, a championship scheduled for July, in the city of Curitiba.

Integral Médica, a supplement company of which he was part, issued a statement lamenting the loss of a "sport influencer who inspired thousands of young people daily with his energy, discipline and authenticity."

Ramon Dino, current champion of the Classic Physique category at Mr. Olympia, also offered his condolences: "Always happy, always playful, always making people laugh (...) A genuine guy, with a pure heart, who made a point of making everyone feel good."

The bodybuilder's farewell took place this Monday (25). According to Clarisse Ganley, the young man's mother, the wake and cremation ceremony were held in a restricted manner, reserved only for family and close friends, starting at 11am.
