In an interview after his victory against Luka Pavlovic, João Fonseca admitted that he thought about withdrawing from Roland Garros after the injury suffered before the ATP 500 in Hamburg. "Injuries will come. I don't know any player who doesn't have injuries. When they're playing, sometimes they play feeling something. It's normal, you have to know how to deal with it. I think every athlete feels a little bit. It's something that my team and I work hard on. Nobody wants to feel pain or not play tennis. We try to take care of our body, that's the priority", said João Fonseca about the injury that took him out of the Hamburg ATP.
In this sense, the Brazilian, who is 30th in the ATP rankings, stated that he even thought about leaving Roland Garros. The decision to stay in the competition only came on Friday (22), when he felt ready for the competition.
