Italo Ferreira wins the Raglan stage and takes leadership of the WSL

Italo Ferreira won this Sunday night (24) the title of the New Zealand stage, the fourth of the World Surfing Tour. With the result, the Brazilian surfer assumed the leadership of the WSL for the first time in 2026.

The Tokyo Olympics champion secured a place in the final after beating Miguel Pupo and Yago Dora in sequence, in the quarters and semis, respectively. The triumph in the big decision came with a show of aerial maneuvers, fitting two or three in the same wave.

In the final, Italo faced Australian Morgan Cibilic. The Australian started strong and put pressure on with an 8.90, but the Brazilian responded quickly with a 9.33, in a wave of two consecutive reverse aerials. The Brazilian won with 17.50.
