Ana Paula Renault, 44, BBB 26 champion, used social media, last Sunday (25), to talk about Bolsa Família right after presenter Luciano Huck, 54, criticized the program during participation in an event that brought together businesspeople on the coast of São Paulo.

The BBB champion stated that the benefit is one of the "most misinterpreted public policies in Brazil".

During the event, Luciano Huck said that Bolsa Família cannot break the cycle of poverty and stated that many families end up finding ways to remain in the program indefinitely.

"[Brazil] is very inefficient on all fronts. The mayor of the city of Senhor do Bonfim has 56% of his economy in Bolsa Família. What happens? You don't generate any type of stimulus for families to want to leave Bolsa Família. In fact, they create shortcuts to stay in the income distribution, social protection program, ad eternum. We need to create a stimulus", declared Huck.

"How do you motivate the family that needs it, that needs Bolsa Família, to want to leave this program? [...] A family in Brazil, to leave the bottom of the social pyramid to reach the middle of the Brazilian middle class, takes nine generations", he stated.

Ana Paula Renault's position on social media came shortly after the repercussion of the presenter's opinion. In the publication, even without mentioning Huck's name, the ex-BBB mentions the type of event where he was and his speeches at the place.

"Bolsa Família is perhaps one of the most misinterpreted public policies in Brazil. For years, they repeated the cruel idea that Brazilians receive the benefit and 'settle down'. But the data tells another story. A study by FGV showed that, in ten years, more than 60% of beneficiaries managed to leave Bolsa Família. Among young people who were teenagers when they received the benefit, this number exceeds 70%", said Ana Paula.

She went on to say that the debate about the program needs to be based on data and not prejudice.

"Criticizing Bolsa Família as if it produced accommodation is ignoring evidence, ignoring inequality and, above all, ignoring the real Brazil. Brazil does not need less social protection. What it needs is more schools, more decent jobs, more qualifications, more daycare, more opportunities and less prejudice disguised as economic opinion", he added.

Ana Paula's publication received support from several famous people. Names such as João Guilherme, Giovanna Lancellotti, Bianca Andrade and Letícia Sabatella commented on the publication supporting the journalist's position.

After the negative repercussion, Luciano Huck published videos on Instagram stories to clarify what he said.

"I am in favor of social protection programs, which help millions and millions of Brazilians. What I defend is that these programs are constantly improved [...] Technology today allows us to understand the reality of each family and individualize these programs", he explained.
