12 hours long, 200 songs and 20 clips: what it was like as a funk producer camp
For more than 12 hours, around 100 artists were at the GR6 production company to create more than 200 songs and 20 video clips. "The GDP of funk is all here", joked Ice Blue, member of the rap group Racionais MCs and advisor to the company.
Held last Wednesday (20) under the name "O Homem Tá Na Casa", the camp (the name given to an event that brings together producers, composers and performers to produce music) had in the invitation a photo of Rodrigo Oliveira, president of the company and who was imprisoned for 28 days as a result of Operation Narco Fluxo, which investigates an alleged connection of artists and businessmen with a criminal organization focused on laundering money from drug trafficking.
Others investigated in the case, such as Henrique Oliveira, Rato Love Funk, and MC Ryan SP, were at the company to follow the songs that were created there. In addition to showing how the funk machine has the capacity to produce music on an industrial scale, the event also served as a kind of "collective hug" to Rodrigo GR6.
G1 followed the movement from 10pm, peak camping time, which started around 3pm at the producer's headquarters, located in the North Zone of São Paulo.

GR6 has a large three-story house, with around 10 fixed studios, as well as a warehouse that is used for the production of music videos. While camping, meeting rooms and connection booths became makeshift studios. In total, there were 30 spaces for recording music.
It was very difficult to walk through the company corridors due to the accumulation of people (counting the relevant portion of curious people and friends of friends).
Funkers with a long history passed through the place, such as MC Guimê, MC Rodolfinho and MC Livinho, new generation artists, such as MC Tuto and MC Joãozinho VT and many artists who were looking for their first opportunity to record with their favorite artist.
As the production company's cast is made up of almost 100% of the main artists of the genre, the GR6 campsites were basically a "firm party". But this time it was different. Entry was open to names from other producers (such as Guimê and Rato).
The decision to carry out the camping trip was made by Rodrigo himself last Monday (18). This was a sign that the businessman wanted to demonstrate that, even with the recent arrest, his work structure had not been affected.
During the event, he went through all the studios, gave tips and made his own room a studio that housed the producer DJ Oreia and received the main names of the night.
"The machine that doesn't stop"
All the GR6 studios were full. The smaller venues, which were actually booths where show vendors make and receive phone calls, had room for a producer sitting with his laptop, a sound card and, at most, two MCs. Larger studios could accommodate up to 20 people.
With more than 15 years of career and a few camping trips under his belt, VG's MC Menor explains that it was the most crowded event he has ever witnessed - which brings good and bad things.

The good side is the opportunity to improvise and create connections with new artists amidst busy schedules.
"We are at work all the time road or on stage. Here, it's a moment when you can bump into someone and make a song."
Each MC works in a different way. But, as a rule, production works as follows:
The producer presents a beat for the MC to compose based on that melody;
With the lyrics written, the MC provides the voice and the producer adapts the beat during the process;
Due to time, there is no elaborate mastering or mixing process.
Within each studio there is a GR6 representative responsible for marketing.

This professional catalogs all the ready-made tracks and makes a first filter on which song should be a priority in publicity.
All marketing work is done only after recording. And the great success story of the camps is the song "Mãe Solteira", by J.Eskine, MC Davi and MC G15, produced by DG and Batidão Stronda.
Made during an event in 2025, the song became one of the hits of that year's Carnival. Videos on the internet show what the entire creative process was like (from the producers presenting the melody to the MCs, to the arrangement of the compositions).
Improvisation is the great "magic" of the environment. g1 witnessed, for example, the moment when producer Yuri Pedrada presented to MC GW a song he produced with MC Davi and MC Don Juan.
The track, which uses as a sample the introduction of "Gasolina", a hit by Puerto Rican Daddy Yankee, was ready, but Davi immediately suggested that GW make a participation. Everything improvised.
But this great creative mass worked on improvisation also generates an enormous volume of... nothing. These are voices that only serve as a guide or even finished songs that fall below the acceptable level and are discarded over the next few days, when each track is analyzed more carefully.
In addition, the coming and going of the studios, in addition to the presence of unidentified people (fans, team members and many others) make the act of recording an arduous task.
"I'm tired of starting to sing and someone appears, slapping me on the back, or shouting my name. It's not cool, but it's part of the magic", comments VG.
"People keep coming"
One of the founders of Racionais, Ice Blue is a black man over 1.80m tall. He doesn't go around without being noticed, especially at a music event. Approached for photos and advice, he talks about what he liked but, mainly, what he didn't like.
Before talking to the reporter, he comments, around 2am, that people kept arriving. It was a mixture of concern and the notion that this movement was necessary. For those who have had an album in the oven for more than three years, camping is a different school.
"I'm from the analogue school, where everything takes much longer. We barely had a studio to record. Funk always had this single point, of releasing several songs. This doesn't take away from the more elaborate work, the album. They are different schools that complement each other", he says.
"We also understand that this thing of meeting a friend and recording a song is part of the culture. We can't lose this essence."
It was around this time that MC Ryan SP arrived at the scene. Without interacting or talking to anyone who was in the common areas, he went to the presidency room where he met Rodrigo and representatives from GR6.
Ryan was at the campsite not as a singer, but as a businessman, accompanying the artists from his production company, Bololô Records. Among them: DJ Japa NK and MC Meno K, responsible for the hit "I Can Even Don't Te Dar Flores".
The Federal Police operation that, about a month ago, hit the biggest company and the biggest artist in the segment, was a non-issue. Artists and onlookers didn't touch on the issue. It was as if the workers had an obligation to keep the machine running. Whatever it takes.
