In an electoral rhythm, Lula announces a delivery every three days; see which ones

Less than five months before the elections, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) has intensified his delivery schedules, mainly in the Southeast and Northeast regions of the country, with an eye on re-election in the October election. According to a survey carried out by CNN based on the PT member's official agenda, Lula announced, on average, one delivery every three days in 2026.

From January to March, Lula dedicated himself to schedules at the Palácio do Planalto, some occasional trips within the country and trips abroad. The president visited Panama, India, South Korea, Guyana, Colombia, Spain, Germany and Portugal in the first quarter of the year.

In April, however, Lula began to look more domestically and intensified his national travel schedule to announce measures aimed at the middle class and low-income population.

After registering seven agendas classified as deliveries or popular announcements in January and another seven in February, the government began to intensify this type of event from March onwards, when there were 11 agendas of this type. In April, there were ten delivery schedules, and, by May 23, 13 deliveries had already been recorded, totaling 48 announcements since the beginning of the year.

In contrast, the president reduced his focus on the international agenda. Lula's only trip abroad in the third quarter was a visit to the President of the United States, Donald Trump, at the White House. Lula's next confirmed trip abroad is the Mercosur Summit, in Paraguay, on June 30th.

Just in the last week, the PT member announced almost daily deliveries, passing through the municipalities of Sâo Paulo, Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro, in addition to the Federal District. During the period, the president only maintained institutional agendas, with internal meetings and an interview with EBC, on Friday (22). On all other days, including Saturday (23), Lula participated in public events, with construction deliveries and announcements of new investments.

The Minha Casa, Minha Vida housing program has established itself as one of the main showcases of Lula's government. In 2026 alone, the PT member participated in three deliveries in Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Maceió (AL) and Salvador (BA), in addition to a simultaneous delivery, with a ceremony at Palácio do Planalto.

There is still an expectation that Lula will deliver more housing units this week, in Manaus, when he will make his first visit of the year to the North of the country, the only region not yet visited by the PT member since January 2026.

In addition to housing, health also accounts for a relevant part of the government's announcement agenda. Lula participated in events linked to the delivery of ambulances from Samu (Mobile Emergency Care Service), hospital equipment, the opening of medical centers, investments in vaccines, cancer treatments and actions aimed at the Agora Tem Especialistas program.

This year, Lula also made announcements related to infrastructure, education and public security (see the list of deliveries made from January to May this year below).

Lula prioritizes the Southeast
In an election year, the president has, until now, prioritized visits to the southeast of the country. According to a CNN survey, Lula has been to the region 15 times since January this year.

Next comes the Northeast region, with eight PT members coming in the same period. The Central-West and South accumulate two and one visit from the current Chief Executive from January to May this year, respectively.

According to the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), the Southeast and Northeast concentrate the largest number of voters, followed by the South, North and Central-West.

In the 2018 elections, in which the candidates in the second round were Fernando Haddad (PT) and Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the PT lost in five of the seven states in the North region, winning only in Pará and Tocantins.

In 2022, when President Lula competed with now former President Jair Bolsonaro, the PT lost in four of the seven northern states.

The party maintained its victories in Pará and Tocantins and managed to reverse the situation in Amazonas, taking victory in the state.
