Unfolds 2.0: Workers will be able to use FGTS from this Monday (25)

Brazilian workers will be able to use, from this Monday (26), part of the FGTS (Service Time Guarantee Fund) balance to pay off debts through the Desenrola 2.0 program.

The measure is part of the new stage of the federal government's renegotiation program and should generate up to R$8 billion across the country.

According to the Ministry of Finance, it will be allowed to use up to 20% of the FGTS residual balance or R$1,000 - whichever is higher - for amortization or settlement of outstanding debts.

By mid-May, Desenrola 2.0 had already renegotiated around R$10 billion in debt, in 1.1 million operations, according to the Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan. According to him, approximately 1 million CPFs were benefited and 449 thousand debts were paid off in cash.

How access to the benefit works
Workers interested in using their FGTS balance in the program must go to the bank and request registration in Desenrola 2.0.

To facilitate the process, 10,000 post offices will also be available to help workers register for the program.

The measure aims to expand access, especially for those people who face difficulties in accessing traditional banking services.
