Jeffrey Epstein's longtime assistant provided the House Oversight Committee with three new names of alleged abusers in the convicted sex offender's network. Committee chairman James Comer described the revelation as a promising lead in the panel's investigation into Epstein's crimes.
The assistant, Sarah Kellen, provided the names in a closed-door interview on Thursday, Comer said. He declined to name the individuals but said they were not previously known and promised to release a transcript of Kellen's interview as soon as possible.
"The new names, that's what we've been waiting for," Comer said, adding, "I'm more optimistic today than I have been in a long time."

In 2007, she was named by law enforcement authorities as one of Epstein's possible co-conspirators, and many believe she helped him recruit and abuse young girls. However, she has described herself as a victim of Epstein's abuse, and some observers acknowledge that her experience is complex, even as law enforcement authorities have investigated her for possibly assisting the mogul.
Throughout hours of closed-door testimony on Thursday, Kellen claimed that she was not Epstein's co-conspirator and that she had no idea she would be named in the early 2000s sex offender's non-prosecution agreement. To the contrary, Kellen testified that she "worked for Jeffrey Epstein and was sexually and psychologically abused by him," according to a copy of her opening statements shared with CNN.
Kellen described in graphic detail some of the sexual abuse he claims he suffered.
Toque agora.
"I want this Committee to know that the abuses happened on average weekly and were sometimes violent," Kellen said, according to the statements. "They included Jeffrey coming into my room in the middle of the night and putting his fingers inside me, waking me from sleep. They included the time in Palm Beach when he trapped me in the gym by lowering the metal hurricane shutter, turned on the music so loud no one could hear, hanged me, and violently raped me."
Democratic Representative Melanie Stansbury told reporters she asked Kellen about her experience at the tycoon's ranch in New Mexico, where a state investigation is underway, and Kellen said it was one of the places she was abused by Epstein.
She said that for years, it simply wasn't possible for her to escape Epstein's powerful grip: "I had nowhere to go. I had no money, no family, no education, no sense that I deserved better."
Stansbury said he also asked Kellen whether she believed Epstein's accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, should have been transferred to a lower security prison or whether Maxwell should receive a presidential pardon. To both questions, Kellen answered no, and even held Maxwell responsible for part of Epstein's crimes, stating that "Maxwell turned Epstein into the monster he became," according to Stansbury.
Comer said the Justice Department did not interview Kellen until 2019, arguing that it was an example of investigators mishandling the Epstein case. CNN has reached out to the Department of Justice for comment.
"More evidence emerges every time we bring in someone that the government failed the victims. That's obvious," Comer said.
Comer said that after hearing her testimony, he believes Kellen was a victim of Epstein's crimes, not a possible accomplice.
"Of all the people we've interviewed so far, this was by far the most substantial and productive interview we've had. She was very brave in coming forward.
I can't imagine how difficult it was for her to go into detail about the abuse she suffered at the hands of Epstein and Maxwell," Comer said.
But others said they had more questions for Kellen. Democratic Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi said the panel should consider bringing Kellen back for an interview under subpoena, as there were a number of questions Kellen did not answer in the voluntary context of Thursday's interview.
"What I want to hear is more discussion about other actors, other entities, other women, who else were potential conspirators in this," Krishnamoorthi said.
Another source familiar with Kellen's testimony told CNN that while Kellen was willing to answer questions about her own abuse, she would not share any information about abuse she knew others had suffered.
And although Kellen said she never witnessed any inappropriate behavior from President Donald Trump, she testified that she believed Epstein and Trump were close at some point, given that Epstein had photographs of Trump scattered throughout his properties, the source added.
Comer said Kellen testified that Epstein used to go to Mar-a-Lago to work out, but Trump kicked him out because Epstein "hit on a member's daughter or something."
