Flávio denies knowing Vorcaro the banker and, after audio, he is not received

Presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) denied an influential banker that he was in contact with the founder of Banco Master, Daniel Vorcaro. Days later, however, the news proved otherwise. So, the senator tried to contact him again to clarify the case, but was not received by the banker.

Flávio and this big name in the market spoke at least twice after Vorcaro was arrested. Aware of the ex-Master's extensive network of influence, the banker went straight to the question to understand whether there was a risk of any link appearing between the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro and the author of the biggest financial fraud in Brazil.

By denying the connection with Vorcaro, the senator reassured the banker.

Days later, however, the website The Intercept Brasil released an audio in which Flávio demands late payments from Vorcaro to pay costs for the film "Dark Horse", a feature film inspired by his father's life.

Under the impact of the news, Flávio tried to meet the player again to explain himself and try to get closer. The meeting, however, did not happen.

The banker argued that he had to travel precisely on the days when the presidential candidate was in São Paulo to try to get closer to the financial market.

Crisis of confidence
Behind the scenes at Faria Lima, the current assessment is that Flávio today faces a kind of "double layer of toxicity" and suffers from an isolation that is contaminated by the Federal Police investigation and the Master's history.

The first layer of contagion is eminently political. To be associated with Daniel Vorcaro is to be linked to the epicenter of one of the biggest corporate scandals in Brazilian history.

In the financial market, the audios and the meeting between the two had a radioactive effect on the senator's public image. For many, anyone positioned in the Vorcaro/Master orbit ends up suffering the effects of proximity contamination.

The second impact, however, takes its toll within the financial ecosystem itself. Vorcaro and Master have always inhabited a kind of reputational limbo at Faria Lima, viewed with skepticism long before investigations pointed to structured fraud and signs of criminality.

In the financial market, being linked to Vorcaro/Master is not only an ethical problem, but a profound commercial shot in the foot.

For most negotiating tables, this association simply makes the most valuable asset in this environment unfeasible: trust.

Confidentiality clause
In public statements, the senator argues that he could not reveal his connection with Vorcaro because there was a confidentiality clause in the contract between the then owner of Master and the producer of the film "Dark Horse".

If he confirmed that he had a relationship with Vorcaro, Flávio would not be able to explain, according to him, that it was "private sponsorship" for the film.

In an interview with CNN, Flávio apologized to those who did not understand his reasons for hiding contacts between the two.
