CVM superintendents ask for the selection of a server for the board

Two days after the approval by the Senate of lawyer Otto Lobo for the presidency of the CVM (Securities Commission), 27 employees - including superintendents, chiefs, auditors, inspector and chief auditor - from the regulator released a letter asking that the last free director vacancy in the house be filled by a career employee.

Last Wednesday (20), the Senate approved, in addition to Lobo's nomination, the name of lawyer Igor Muniz for the post of director. Thus, after almost five months with just two members - director Marina Copola and interim president João Accioly -, the Board will be almost complete. There will only be one director vacancy left.

"In relation to this, the signatories reiterate the position they have supported in favor of the occupation of the remaining vacancy by a member of the CVM's permanent staff", the civil servants said in a note.

"The presence of a director with a career background is an essential element for institutional continuity, the preservation of regulatory memory and the adequate understanding of supervision and inspection routines, as recommended, including, by the Federal Audit Court in Ruling No. 3,252/2020."

The superintendents also said that it is desirable that the vacancy be filled as quickly as possible, in order to ensure the full composition of the Board. They also recalled the decision of Minister Flávio Dino, of the Federal Supreme Court, who determined the allocation of resources collected from the Securities Market Inspection Fee.

"It will be up to the CVM, with the necessary support from the central bodies of the federal public administration, to convert this budgetary recomposition into permanent institutional strengthening, guided by structural gains in productivity, technological modernization and improvement of the authority's supervisory intelligence", says the note.
