Pep Guardiola and Manchester City announced this Friday (22) the end of the partnership between coach and club, which had lasted ten years. Shortly after the announcement, the Catalan coach held a press conference and spoke about the next steps after leaving England.

Despite the certainty that he will receive proposals from major clubs and national teams, Guardiola said he hopes to take a break before committing to a new project.

"Rest. No plans to train for a while. Otherwise I would continue here. I need to take a step back", said Pep.

"A lot of people, when I told them it would be my last season, said that after three months I would be back. I don't think it will be like that, but I will have to prove to myself [that I need rest]. It's been 17, 18 years in which people demand every three days to win a third championship or a Premier League, and I need to take a breather and relax."

Pep Guardiola led Barcelona from 2008 to 2012, and took over Bayern Munich after a sabbatical year in which he lived in New York. He stayed at the Bavarian club from 2013 to 2016, the year he joined Manchester City.

In England, he won the unprecedented Champions League, in addition to six Premier League cups. In total, there were 20 titles.

With City's title, Guardiola becomes the greatest champion of the League Cup

The match against Aston Villa on Sunday (24), at the Etihad Stadium, in the Premier League, will mark the coach's farewell to the Citizens.

The Catalan will be honored by the club with a statue and the name of a stand, the North Stand, which will be renamed The Pep Guardiola Stand.

"Indescribable, speechless. What can I say? Khaldoon [al-Mubarak, City chairman] called me this morning and said the club has made this decision. I like to think that my vibe, my energy will be there forever. My father will be coming on Sunday - he's 94 - to watch the match. It's an incredible honor to have his name on this beautiful place."
