Not in the 1st batch of the 2026 Income Tax refund? See reasons

The Federal Revenue released, this Friday (22), the consultation of the 1st batch of payment regarding the refund of Income Tax 2026. The Tax Authority's estimate is that approximately 9 million people will be refunded in the first batch.

The transfer is only made to people who have already submitted their declarations. With a target of 44 million taxpayers for 2026, 29,631,928 Brazilians have successfully rendered their accounts to the IRS so far, with 62.8% of them being entitled to a refund.

However, payment follows an order of priority and, although taxpayers who chose Pix as a method of receipt and used the pre-filled declaration are on the preference list, this does not guarantee a place in the 1st batch of the refund.

Only after these contributors will those who chose to receive via Pix and used the pre-filled form receive. Finally, other declarants are included.

The order in which the declarations are submitted also makes a difference. In other words: the sooner the accounts are rendered, the faster the unduly charged tax will be paid.

Income tax: Revenue opens consultation on the 1st batch of restrictions | MORNING CALL

If the values do not appear when entering the query system, you may not be included in the first wave of transfers. It is worth remembering that, although the consultation is open, the payment date for the 1st batch will be next Friday, May 29th.

If they are not included in this batch, taxpayers can still receive the amounts to be refunded on the next dates:

- Second batch: June 30th;
- Third batch: July 31st;
- Fourth batch: August 28th.

In this first shipment of 2026, 8,749,992 taxpayers will be granted R$16 billion in credits, the largest amount in history.

In addition to the traditional refund, one of the new features of Income Tax 2026 is the "cashback", or automatic refund. The novelty applies to those who are not required to declare, but have amounts to be refunded.

This refund will be made on July 15th, parallel to the regular payment, automatically via Pix or account informed by the citizen.

The estimate is that four million taxpayers will benefit from the new feature, with refunds ranging from R$125 to R$1,000, totaling R$500 million in refunds.
