2026 World Cup: is it still possible to obtain a visa? See FIFA Pass deadlines

With less than a month to go until the 2026 World Cup, Brazilians still have a chance of securing an American visa before the World Cup.

In an interview with CNN Brasil, lawyer André Linhares, a specialist in Immigration to the United States, explained the steps for obtaining documentation and deadlines.

"Today, there is no single official deadline for approval, because each case is analyzed individually. In some processes, the answer may come in a few days, while others may take longer. Therefore, the recommendation is to gather all the necessary documentation as soon as possible to increase the chances of conclusion before the start of the World Cup", explained the lawyer.

FIFA Pass is a priority system for fans and tries to speed up the process of approving documentation before the World Cup. However, André emphasizes that the process does not guarantee approval.

The mechanism works as a channel for scheduling a consular interview for those who have already purchased official FIFA tickets and need a visa to enter the United States.

"Fans will be speeded up, let's say, so that you can have a quicker interview. The visa approval processes remain the same", commented André.

The lawyer also highlights the importance of proving that obtaining the visa will be for tourist purposes only, such as attending the World Cup games, in addition to making it clear in interviews that there is an intention to return after the stay in the country.

Brazil in the World Cup
Brazil is in Group C, alongside Morocco, Scotland and Haiti. This will be the first World Cup with 48 participating teams. The top two placed teams in each bracket advance, as do the eight best third-placed teams.

Even with three venues, Brazil plays all three of its initial phase matches in the United States. The Brazilian team's debut takes place on June 13th, at 7pm (Brasília time), against Morocco. The duel will be at MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey.
