The 2026 Cultural Virada, scheduled to take place this weekend on the 23rd and 24th of May, expects to bring together at least 4.6 million people in the city of São Paulo. Due to the great demand, a special operation will be carried out in the capital, with reinforced policing, fully functioning transport and a free museum.
According to the SSP (Public Security Secretariat), around 4,200 police officers were mobilized for the action, in addition to the support of 900 vehicles. Agents will be distributed at the entrances to the stages, road corridors, transport stations and public embarkation and disembarkation points.
Territorial battalions from the SP Policing Command, the Shock Policing Command, the Traffic Policing Command, the Fire Department, the Military Police Aviation Command and Copom (Military Police Operations Center) will also perform at the festival.

The Civil Police will operate with reinforced shifts in the capital's police stations, with Garra (Armed Robbery Repression Group) carrying out preventive actions and the Racial Crimes and Intolerance Offenses Police Station on standby during the two days of the event.
Public transport and 24-hour operation
The SP Metro and CPTM (Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos) operate fully during the festival weekend, according to the STM (Secretariat of Metropolitan Transport). Reserve trains are positioned at strategic points to expand the fleet if demand grows, according to concessionaires.

On the Metro, Lines 1-Blue, 2-Green, 3-Red and 15-Silver are open for boarding and disembarking. And, at CPTM, all lines operate throughout the night, with the observation that, between 0:00 and 4:00, the stations only allow passengers to disembark and transfer.
According to the State Government, the Sé, São Bento, Anhangabaú and República stations receive reinforcement from agents and adopt flow management strategies to organize circulation during peak crowds.
If necessary, QR Code tickets can be purchased via Metrô WhatsApp, at number (11) 3888-2200, via the TOP app, at self-service terminals or at more than 8,000 physical points of sale spread across the capital.
In addition to rail transport, the Secretariat for Women's Rights takes the SP Por Todas bus to Praça Pedro Lessa, at the intersection of Avenida São João and Rua Formosa, in the center of São Paulo, on Saturday (23), from 5pm to midnight, and on Sunday (24), from 12pm to 6pm.
According to the agency, the mobile unit offers legal guidance, psychosocial support and qualified listening to women in situations of violence, with referral to the state protection and health network when necessary.
Free entry to the Ipiranga Museum
The Ipiranga Museum, located at Rua dos Patriotas, 100, in the Ipiranga neighborhood, will have free entry on both days of Virada Cultural, from 10am to 5pm, with the last entry allowed at 4pm.
As announced, the museum's 11 long-term exhibitions are open to the public, with visits mediated in Portuguese, on both days, at 10:30 am and 2 pm, in addition to a visit in Libras on Sunday (24), at 2:30 pm.
Each session lasts about an hour, and tickets are distributed 10 minutes before the start, according to the museum.
On Saturday (23), at 4pm, the collective Dissidência Def presents the show "Tá Todo Mundo Rindo?", with audio description and translation into Libras. Tickets are free and distributed one hour before the performance.
Virada Cultural
The city of São Paulo hosts Virada Cultural next weekend, on the 23rd and 24th of May.
With the theme "The Festival of Festivals", the event brings musical and cultural attractions, and also has a program focused on the city's museums.
The 21st edition of Virada Cultural prepares exhibitions and guided tours in museums such as Casa Mário de Andrade, Museu Ipiranga, Museu Afro Brasil and the Museu da Imagem e Som.
