Former Prince Andrew is the subject of new investigation over suspected sexual assault in the UK

British police said this Friday (22) that they are looking into an allegation of sexual assault against former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and asked anyone with information about the case to contact the authorities.
According to Thames Valley police, investigators are looking into reports that "a woman had been taken to an address in Windsor in 2010 for sexual purposes". The authorities also stated that they contacted the alleged victim's lawyer to inform her that, if she wishes to formalize a complaint, the case will be handled "with care, sensitivity, respect for privacy and the right to anonymity".
Andrew is also investigated for alleged "omission in the exercise of a public function". The suspicion is that he shared confidential economic documents with American sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein during the period in which he served as UK commercial representative, between 2001 and 2011.
In a statement, the police said that the investigation, opened after the release of documents linked to Epstein by American authorities, "remains ongoing". So far, there is no formal accusation against the former prince.
The authorities also asked the population for "patience" and encouraged people with relevant information to collaborate with the investigations. According to the police, the crime of "omission in the exercise of a public function" can occur in "different ways", which makes the case more complex.
Andrew has always denied irregularities related to the Epstein case. The former prince had already been accused of sexual assault by American Virginia Giuffre, who said she was abused when she was 17 years old. Giuffre died in April 2025, aged 41.
Removed from the duties of the British royal family and stripped of military titles and patronages, Andrew began living in Norfolk, in the east of England, far from his former residence on the royal estate of Windsor.
