Deolane linked to the PCC: what is known and what are the next steps

Influencer and lawyer Deolane Bezerra was preventively arrested on Thursday (21) during Operation Vérnix, launched by Gaeco (Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime) of Presidente Prudente, in the interior of São Paulo.

According to investigations, the operation targets an alleged million-dollar money laundering scheme linked to the PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital).

In total, the Court authorized six preventive arrests, in addition to property blockades and precautionary measures against companies and assets linked to those being investigated.

The targets of the operation
Among the targets of Operation Vernix are names known to the public and people identified as members of the PCC's financial structure.

According to the investigation, the last two had warrants included in the Interpol Red Diffusion.

"New face of the PCC"
In an interview with CNN Brasil this Thursday (21), prosecutor Lincoln Gakiya stated that Deolane would be part of the PCC's "financial architecture" since 2022.

According to him, the influencer is part of what he called the "new face" of the faction, made up of people who would not be baptized members of the criminal group, but who would help with financial transactions and money laundering.

The prosecutor also stated that Deolane was close to family members of Marcola and Alejandro Camacho, including participating in parties, trips and family gatherings.

Tickets and beginning of the investigation
The case began in 2019, after the seizure of manuscripts and notes from inmates at Penitentiary II of Presidente Venceslau.

According to investigations, the documents described internal dynamics of the PCC and mentioned a "woman from the transport company", who would help in attacks against public agents.

This "woman"'s identity was not revealed by the investigation. Following this, three successive investigations were launched.

The first investigated the prisoners found with the manuscripts. The second identified the company Lopes Lemos Transportes, identified as an instrument of money laundering by the faction.

During the so-called Operation Side by Side, the seizure of a cell phone revealed conversations and bank receipts that, according to investigators, would connect Deolane to Everton de Souza, known as "Player".

Contact saved as "Player" informing a bank account number to be used in the monthly "account settlement" or "balance sheet". This informed account, although fragmented in relation to the name of the holder, led to Deolane - Reproduction/Policia Civil de São Paulo
According to the document, "proof of deposits were found destined for accounts linked to the one under investigation".

For the police, this set of records would be compatible with operational action within the financial structure investigated.

Where Deolane is being held
After going through a virtual custody hearing this Thursday (21), the court maintained Deolane's preventive detention. She is detained at the Sant'Ana Women's Penitentiary, in the north of São Paulo.

According to CNN Brasil, the influencer is expected to be transferred to the city of Tupi Paulista, in the interior of São Paulo. Upon leaving the Police Palace, in the center of the capital, Deolane spoke briefly to journalists and stated that "justice will be done".

Son moved R$11 million
According to the police investigation, obtained by CNN Brasil, Giliard Vidal dos Santos, Deolane's son, has already moved more than R$11 million in his bank accounts, an amount considered "discrepant" by the investigations, since the young man has no history of formal occupation or consolidated business activity.

The analysis of the accounts carried out by the Civil Police considered the period between July 2022 and May 2024.

The document also points to the values observed in the accounts of the investigated person in the year 2023, when Giliard generated more than R$6 million, while declaring only around R$32,900.00 in income.

Vehicles seized
In total, the court ordered the blocking of financial assets that exceed the milestone of R$ 327 million. 17 luxury vehicles, valued at more than R$8 million, and four properties linked to those investigated were also kidnapped.

Four of these cars were seized from the influencer alone, namely: a Range Rover, an Escalade, a Jeep Limited and a Mercedes-AMG. In total, it is estimated that the vehicles together exceed millionaire values.

Next steps
The investigation remains under the responsibility of Gaeco de Presidente Prudente and the Civil Police of São Paulo.

In addition to preventive arrests, the operation also targets asset blockades, financial transactions and companies allegedly used to hide resources linked to the PCC.

The defenses of those under investigation spoke out throughout the day and denied irregularities.

"The technical defense of lawyer Deolane Bezerra Santos comes, with the utmost respect to the institutions of the Justice System and the Democratic Rule of Law, to provide the necessary clarifications about the events that resulted in her preventive arrest on today's date, 21.05.26: initially we emphasize her most absolute innocence, as well as, that the facts will be duly clarified by her, at an opportune moment.

For now and as due compliance, we consider the measures signed against Deolane to be disproportionate and this defense panel will continue to cooperate technically with the Court to demonstrate the lawfulness of its activities as a lawyer that it is, fully trusting in the discernment, reasonableness and impartiality of the Judiciary."

On social media, the influencer's lawyer and sister, Daniele Bezerra, stated that Deolane's new arrest means persecution against the lawyer. See full note:

"Today, once again, they try to turn assumptions into truths and headlines into condemnations. The arrest of Deolane Bezerra, on allegations of participation in a criminal organization, is surrounded by lessons, narratives and persecutions that have been repeated for some time. Accusing is easy. It's difficult to prove. In Brazil, unfortunately, people often first expose themselves, destroy their image and condemn themselves in public opinion... and only then seek evidence to support what was done. And that is serious. It cannot be accepted that Justice is used as a spectacle, nor that people are treated as guilty before due legal process. Prison cannot be an instrument of pressure, marketing or social revenge. Anyone who knows the story, the struggle and its trajectory knows that there is a huge difference between facts and narratives created to fuel attacks. We will continue to trust in the truth, in Justice and in the right to defense, because persecution remains persecution, even when they try to give it another name."

"Bruno Ferullo, Marco Willians Herbas Camacho's lawyer, has come forward to clarify the facts related to Operation Vernix, launched on the morning of this Thursday, May 21, 2026, conducted by the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (GAECO) in the region of Presidente Prudente, with support from the Civil Police of the State of São Paulo. The operation falls within the scope of investigations into alleged criminal organization and money laundering, involving alleged incompatible financial transactions and business connections investigated by the Public Prosecutor's Office. It is important to contextualize that this entire investigative chain originated in July 2019, when prison officers found discarded manuscripts in the sewage tank of a cell at the Il de Presidente Venceslau Penitentiary, inhabited by two other prisoners. One of these notes mentioned 'that woman from the transport company', a reference that the police interpreted as indicating a link with a transport company in the region, Lopes Lemos Transportes Ltda. From that single mention, successive investigations unfolded that, years later, arrived at Marco's name. Compliance with precautionary measures does not imply, under any circumstances, a presumption of guilt. The investigations attribute to Marco, in theory, alleged participation in the crimes of being part of a criminal organization and money laundering - related, according to the investigation, to third-party financial transactions and an indirect link with the transport company. It is essential to make it clear that we are in the police investigation phase, which is based exclusively on 'indications and suspicions', expressions that, in law, have limited probative weight and that need to be submitted to the adversarial process before any conclusion can be reached. It is at this stage that the facts will be effectively investigated, with full exercise of broad defense. We ask the press and society to guarantee the presumption of innocence, a fundamental right of the Brazilian legal system, refraining from hasty conclusions that could harm the progress of the process and the image of those involved before any definitive judicial pronouncement."
