The airports of Congonhas Airport (CGH) and São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) recorded, this Thursday morning (9), an interruption in landing and take-off operations.

The problem was caused by a technical failure in the São Paulo airspace control system, with reports of an electrical failure and a suspected incident at a control center.

Operations began to resume around 10am, but the impact continues to be felt at the two main airports in the region.

In Congonhas, the scenario is one of gradual recovery, with widespread delays and some occasional cancellations, especially on flights scheduled in the early hours of the morning.

In Guarulhos, operations still occur with restrictions. Several flights, both domestic and international, experience delays ranging between 30 and 60 minutes, in addition to a greater concentration of passengers in the terminals.

Even with the release of operations, the reorganization of the flight schedule tends to extend throughout the day, impacting connections and scheduled times.

Guidelines for passengersGiven the scenario, the recommendation is that passengers follow directly the official airline channels, such as LATAM Airlines, Gol Linhas Aéreas and Azul Linhas Aéreas, before heading to the airports.

It is also recommended to arrive in advance, as the accumulation of passengers can lead to longer queues during the check-in and boarding processes.

Updated information can be consulted on the official airport websites, managed by Aena Brasil, in Congonhas, and by the concessionaire GRU Airport, in Guarulhos.

Note: This is an evolving situation. Information can change quickly as civil aviation authorities update safety protocols.
