Brazil's CNH gains new features

The Minister of Transport, George Santoro, launched this Wednesday (6) the New Instructor Journey, which seeks to modernize the process of obtaining the first National Driving License (CNH).

Through the CNH do Brasil app, the candidate is connected and can search for driving instructors and driving schools by location, consult reviews from those who have already taken classes and get in touch via WhatsApp.

In practice, after passing the theoretical exam, the user has the autonomy to choose how and with whom they wish to take practical classes.

Across the country, to be accredited by state Traffic departments (Detran) as an instructor, the interested party must meet the following criteria:

- have completed high school;

- have a legal license to drive a vehicle for at least two years;

- not have committed any traffic violation of a very serious nature in the last 60 days;

- not having suffered a penalty of revocation of the driver's license;

- have a certificate for a specific course carried out by the traffic executive body or for a theoretical course available on the Brazilian CNH program platform;

- have participated in defensive driving and first aid courses.

Those who already work as an instructor, hired by a driving school, will be able to continue their activities normally and, at the same time, work independently, using the tool.

Professional registration

Detrans are responsible for registering traffic instructors in the National Registry of Qualified Drivers (Renach), coordinated by the Ministry of Transport.

Consulting the names of traffic instructors accredited by municipality and state can also be done on the website created by the Ministry of Transport.

Approximately 172.2 thousand instructors are already registered on the site.

After registration, the Traffic Instructor information will appear on the professional's Digital CNH.

Driving schools and self-employed instructors can register through the Brazilian CNH application itself, with access via a password registered on the Gov.br platform.

When starting the New Instructor Journey, freelancers will have a digital profile with photo and CV.

How it works

Using the New Instructor Journey functionality, available on the CNH do Brasil app, citizens can search for a Driver Training Center (CFC) or independent instructors without a mandatory link to a driving school based on location, prices, as well as grades and reviews from previous students.

The student can also check the availability of times and locations for classes, according to the terms established by the DMV in each state.

The application itself allows you to open a direct conversation, including via WhatsApp, to negotiate prices and times, without intermediaries. Class scheduling is done in the app.

The instructor will be responsible for recording and validating the activities carried out, officially confirming the participation of each student. Class registration takes place via biometrics and GPS, sending data in real time to the National Registry of Qualified Drivers (Renach).

Companies will have access to a panel to monitor all classes launched in their name, ensuring transparency.

At the end of the activity, the student will receive a digital receipt for the practical course, with the detailed workload and will have the possibility of exporting the document for their personal control.

Digital card

Traffic instructors will also have the National Instructor Credential.

The digital document will be made available free of charge, valid throughout the national territory and can be exported in PDF.

With the card, the professional can prove via cell phone that they are an instructor authorized to work, regardless of whether they are linked to a company or work independently.

The authenticity of the certificate is guaranteed by a QR Code, linked to Serpro.

Supervision

To ensure compliance with the law, transit agencies may carry out instant inspections and validations of the instructor's regularity through inspections at any time.

In case of disqualification, the professional will no longer appear on the official list of autonomous instructors on the Brazilian CNH platform.

The Brazilian CNH system allows real-time communication with Detrans and the National Traffic Secretariat (Senatran). All information is automatically recorded in Renach.

Conductors

In the new process to obtain the National Driving License (CNH), since December, citizens can open the administrative process via cell phone.

In the current model, Brazil's CNH continues to require that the skills necessary to drive be assessed by mandatory theoretical and practical exams. The license candidate must pass both tests to become a driver.

On the CNH do Brasil app or website, the candidate can take the free theoretical course offered by the Ministry of Transport.

Theoretical classes are available 100% digitally, in multiple formats: texts, podcasts and videos, including simulations, question banks and complementary materials.

All stages, including practical exams, can be followed by the candidate on the app.
