Lula announces R$30 billion in credit for car purchases by app drivers and taxi drivers

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) announced this Tuesday (19) a new credit line of R$ 30 billion for a program aimed at financing cars for app drivers and taxi drivers.

The new program was titled Move APPs. The following can participate:
duly registered and active taxi drivers;
app drivers with an active registration for at least 12 months, who have carried out at least 100 rides in that period, on the same platform.
The PT member launched the program during an event at Casa de Portugal, in São Paulo. On the occasion, President Lula signed a provisional measure (MP) authorizing the line of credit.
During his speech, Lula highlighted the costs of app drivers who rent cars and stated that the financing will reduce the cost by half, citing the speech of the Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Márcio Elias Rosa. time, this car, if rented, will cost more than R$6,000 in installments. Resources from the Treasury
The resources from the credit line will come from the National Treasury and passed on to the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). According to the Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Márcio Elias Rosa, the financing lines will be available from June 19th.
The MP also authorizes the National Monetary Council (CMN) to grant more favorable conditions for women, such as lower interest rates and longer terms, in addition to allowing, for this public, the financing of additional security equipment.
According to the president of BNDES, Aloizio Mercadante, interest rates should be 12.6% per year for men and 11.5% for women, and the financing term can reach 72 months, with a six-month grace period.
The favorable financing conditions will apply to new cars worth up to R$150,000 that meet sustainability criteria - flex, flex hybrids, electric or exclusively ethanol - from manufacturers qualified in the Mover Program. According to Mercadante, 62% of all new cars sold in the country could be part of the program.
The president of BNDES also stated that there will be around 100 participating banks, with the expectation that 200,000 to 300,000 cars will be sold. The objective is for the vehicles to be sold for values at least 5% lower than the table.

How to participate
According to the government, the request for financing under favorable conditions must be made on the page gov.br/movebrasil.
The process was designed to be simplified, with authorized sharing of only the information necessary to verify eligibility, exempting, as a rule, the initial presentation of documents by the interested.
For app drivers, confirmation that the driver is able to access financing will be given by the platform for which he works. In the case of taxi drivers, validation will be carried out by the Federal Revenue Service using the person's data in gov.br itself.
Within 5 working days after the request, the person will receive, via gov.br's mailbox, a response as to whether they meet the conditions. If so, drivers should contact financial institutions from June 19th. The credit analysis will be carried out directly by these institutions, after the person requests financing.
