"Michael" sequel gets updates: "We have 25% of a film recorded"

The sequel to the biopic "Michael" received updates this Thursday (21). According to information from Variety, Adam Fogelson, head of cinema at Lionsgate, said he believes that the studio responsible for the film already has a good part of the film recorded.

"We believe we already have 25 to 30% of a second film recorded from the previous production, and obviously this will bring some [financial] benefit at the end of the day, but we will ensure that we make a great and satisfying film for global audiences once again," he said.

Also according to information from the American outlet, Fogelson mentioned that the studio is very excited about the progress they are making in relation to the second film. "All the conversations we have had with the parties involved continue to go exceptionally well," he added.

"Michael" tells the story of Michael Jackson's life beyond music, following his journey from discovering his extraordinary talent as leader of the Jackson Five to becoming the visionary artist whose creative ambition fueled a tireless quest to be the greatest artist in the world.

According to Variety, the film chief further says: "There are so many other events that happened, even in the period depicted in the original film, that haven't been covered, so we're very, very confident that we have an incredibly entertaining film that will once again appeal to global audiences as the pieces fall into place."

He also noted that events may not follow a chronological order. "We can move forward and backward in telling this story," he added.
