In the recorded version on YouTube released by the channel Dusty Vaquero & Kade Hoffman,
 he does a picking
pattern where he picks the bass note of the chord, then immediately strums the bottom 2
strings, that is how
he plays the whole song and I recommend watching the YouTube video to see how he does
it. He also tends to
hammer-on almost every time he picks the bass note. If you can play it this way, then
play it, however,
if that's too difficult you can play the song with a down, down, up down up, strumming
pattern. The trick is
to play the chords shown with your pointer and middle finger, your pinky finger and ring
 finger will remain
on the 3rd fret of the bottom 2 strings the entire song.
