up.
INTRO: E
A
Well you heard about the Legend of Jesse James,
E
And John Henry just to mention some names,
A
But there's a truck driving legend in the south today,
RIFF 1
A man called bandit from Atlanta, GA
A
Every Gear Jammer knows his name,
E
They swear he's got ice water runnin' in his veins,
A A (one hard strum)
With a foot like lead and nerves like steel,
He's gonna go to glory ridin' 18 wheels.
RIFF 2
E
Well he left Atlanta back in '63,
A
Haulin' him a load up to Tennesse,
E
He hit monteagle in drivin rain,
RIFF3
So hard he couldnt' even see the passing lane,
E
Well he started down the grade when he lost a gear,
A
He hit them brakes, found he had no air
E
The monteagle grade is steep and long,
RIFF 3
And everybody that seen had thought the bandit was gone,
RIFF 2
E
Well the truck jack-knifed, turned completely round
A
He was comin' down backwards about the speed of sound
E
Alot of folks seen him, and they all say
RIFF 3
He had his head out the window yelling "clear the way!"
E
Well he got to the bottom, safe and sound
A
Everybody asked bandit how he made it down
E
He said folks when the truck picked up too much speed
RIFF 3
I just run along beside it and drug my feet
