The Godfather - Credit Rolls

5 Successful Artists Who Have Not Made It Big in the US Afinação: E A D G B ECapotraste: Sem capotraste The music for the various credit rolls of the 1972 movie The Godfather was composed by Nino Rota and conducted by Carlo Savina. In most versions, the roll features the shortest rendition of the score intended for use in the first picture's credits with 2:31 and never saw a standalone release. While both the 1972 original soundtrack and the 2022 50th anniversary expanded and remastered edition saw a longer variation overdubbed with a vocal chorus in The Godfather Finale and the re-issue also featured two related cues in End Credits as well as End Credits (Alternate), neither of them were what actually did play in either of the rolls. Franco Sciannameo wrote in his book Nino Rota's The Godfather Trilogy A Film Score Guide that the music in the credits was originally titled The Godfather Finale, as well. Because of the minor differences in how they somewhat change in volume, tempo and notes over the course of the tracks, we know at least End Credits and End Credits (Alternate) to be separate recordings, with The Godfather Finale created for the OST and this actual credit roll assembled for the picture probably having been joined together from different parts of those two. The length of this cue was cut to fit the credit roll of the standard theatrical, the subsequent VHS, the 2001 SD edition (The Godfather Collection) on DVD and the 2022 4K edition (The Godfather 50th Anniversary or The Godfather Trilogy) on DVD and blu-ray. When the 2008 HD edition (The Coppola Restoration) became available on DVD and blu-ray, a second credit roll was added after the original, listing the people who worked on the project. Rather than now swapping the cue out for any of the aforementioned longer variations of this piece of music to match the longer credits, that restoration play the same old cue for the original roll and then adds the track Sicilian Pastorale in shortened length, cutting it's oboe intro. Therefore, the 2008 version actually becomes at the longest credit roll with 4:00. The extended movie cuts modelled after The Godfather Saga all use Part II's credit roll music, instead. I want to thank my friends Kevy and Wraith for lending me different versions to proof watch! The credits are a highlight reel of sorts, playing through the most important themes. The aforementioned credit music of 1974's The Godfather Part II, End Title, would later achieve the same idea. These here play through Michael's Theme or The New Godfather, Apollonia, [cutting Love Theme From The Godfather and a portion of the Main Title as found in other variations and continuing with] a shortened segment of the Main Title and the The Godfather Waltz. These were all cues recorded by an orchestra for this collection and not re-used assets from earlier recordings of said themes as they appeared in the picture or on the soundtrack. Only the Coppola Restoration then continues with the re-used asset Sicilian Pastorale from the 1972 and 2022 OST. The instruments used are two mandolins, violins, a viola, two cellos, an oboe, clarinet, flute, horn, piano, guitar, harp, trumpet, accordion and bassoon. Since the latter mostly plays out of range for us, I transposed it with fretted harmonics, optionally: Fret down a note and place the index finger of the picking hand 12 frets higher, striking the fret with the thumb. The mandolins are playing within octaves of one another and do so with a sustained tremolo throughout.
