The Godfather 50Th Anniversary - Sicilian Pastorale

5 Successful Artists Who Have Not Made It Big in the US Afinação: E A D G B ECapotraste: Sem capotraste Track no. 15 on disc 1, as well as track no. 6 on disc 2 of The Godfather 50th Anniversary expanded and remastered edition: Sicilian Pastorale. Composed by Nino Rota and conducted by Carlo Savina. Playing in the film as a transitional shot from New York to Sicily is shown, Michael walks through the countryside with his bodyguards Calò and Fabrizio. It takes turns with two other cues; Love Theme From The Godfather and Apollonia in the standard theatrical release as well as all extended cuts such as The Godfather Saga, where more otherwise deleted Sicily scenes scored with music are included. Sicilian Pastorale, after it's unique oboe intro, is built on the melody of said Love Theme. And with a similar orchestration to the cue Love Theme From The Godfather (Film Version) that also was finally put on this same re-issue, pretty difficult to tell apart from it. While the Love Theme put on the 1972 release was a different version from what was used for the film, the 1972 OST and 2022 anniversary soundtracks both feature the same version of Sicilian Pastorale. I used this opportunity to expand upon my transcript from a few years ago and correct some details, as well as include the background voices that I omitted in favor of the melody line back in then. The book Nino Rota's The Godfather Trilogy - A Film Score Guide by Franco Sciannameo reveals that what played in the movie and was put on the OST is in actuality a cue titled Sicilian Pastorale Part 3. And how Part 1 and 2 were both recorded, but not featured. They remain unreleased as of now. The cue was spelled as both 'Pastorale' and 'Pastoral' at different points. It also enabled me to fact-check the instruments I (mis)identified: The clavietta I believed to have heard is in fact just the accordion switched to the reeds setting, there is no clarinet but two oboes, as well as it not being a harpsichord but a celeste. Then there are also a flute, bassoon, cello and string section along an acoustic guitar strumming in the background. With the bassoon being out of range, it could be played as fretted harmonics: Fret down the note and hover the index finger of the picking hand 12 frets higher, lightly touching it and plucking the string with the thumb.
