Michael's Decision / The Waiting Game.
The title's refer to the moments they play in during the movie. The former cue appearing in a very abbreviated
form after Michael tells Vito that he is with him as he lies in the hospital after being shot. Soon after, he
is standing guard outside with Enzo the baker as the next cue(Bad Luck) starts playing, but the theme
quickly reverting back to this mashup.
It is difficult to separate Michael's Decision from The Waiting Game, as there is no pause in between them,
just flow. The track uses the Godfather Waltz, as well as Michael's Theme, but also Sollozzo's. Composed by
Nino Rota and conducted by Carlo Savina.
There will be a viola leading the melody, soon joined by more violas to form a section. So will the cellos.
In the background, a higher string section is also heard briefly, along a bassoon. Which is really an optional
voice, as it is so low it will be out of range for the mando. It is mirroring the cello lines an octave lower.
Therefore I (mostly) transposed it as fretted harmonics. For which the index finger will be placed 12 frets
higher than the fretted note and struck by either the thumb of the picking hand or the plectrum. The oboe,
horn and trumpet will be playing other voices and the clarinet will later lead. There is also a piano playing
faintly in the background. Mandolin transposal in standard tuning GDae.
