This is the second longest rendition of the score intended for use in the credits with 3:19. On this same re-issue, we find another, longer version titled End Credits (Alternate). The 1972 OST saw yet another variation with The Godfather Finale. Despite this track's title, it is not what did actually play after the end of the film. The credit music was cut down further and since then not released. Because of the minor differences in how they faintly deviate in notes, volume and tempo over the course of the tracks, we know at least End Credits and End Credits (Alternate) to be separate recordings, with The Godfather Finale edited for the OST and the actual credit roll compiled for the movie probably having been fused together from parts of those. Composed by Nino Rota and conducted by Carlo Savina, it is a highlight reel of sorts, playing across the most moving themes. The track End Title would later fulfil the same purpose in 1974's The Godfather Part II. End Credits plays through Michael's Theme or The New Godfather, Apollonia, [cutting Love Theme From The Godfather] and Main Title or The Godfather Waltz. These were all cues recorded by an orchestra for this medley, not re-used assets from earlier recordings of said themes as they appeared in the movie or on the soundtrack. The instruments used are two mandolins, violins, a viola, two cellos, an oboe, clarinet, flute, horn, piano, guitar, harp, trumpet, accordion and bassoon. Since the latter mostly plays out of range for us, I transposed it with fretted harmonics, optionally: Fret down a note and place the index finger of the picking hand 12 frets higher, striking the fret with the thumb. The mandolins are playing within octaves of one another and do so with a sustained tremolo throughout.
