Inicialmente, o estilo musical da banda possuía influências no gênero pós-punk. Porém, eventualmente foram incorporando estilos mais genéricos. Ao longo das mudanças do grupo, eles sempre têm mantido um som construído sobre instrumentos melódicos, com destaque para as texturas e acordes do guitarrista de The Edge e dos vocais expressivos de Bono. Suas letras, muitas vezes embelezadas com imagens espirituais, têm foco em temas pessoais e preocupações sócio-políticas. "One" é uma canção da banda de rock irlandesa U2. É tanto a terceira canção como o terceiro single do álbum Achtung Baby (1991), sendo lançado em 2 de março de 1992. Durante a gravação de Achtung Baby, o conflito surgiu entre os membros da banda sobre a direção do som do U2 e qualidade de seu material. As tensões quase levaram a banda a se separar, até que o guitarrista The Edge compôs uma progressão de acordes que inspirou o grupo a improvisar a música. A mistura da música foi trabalhada durante o resto das sessões do álbum. A letra, escrita pelo vocalista Bono, descreve as lutas para manter relações com os outros, mas têm sido interpretada de outras maneiras.
