Records e Jive Records. Após ter assinado um contrato com seu tio Barry Hankerson, a cantora foi introduzida ao artista e produtor R. Kelly. Ele se tornou seu mentor, assim como principal compositor e produtor do álbum. O duo gravou o álbum na Chicago Recording Company em Chicago, entre janeiro de 1993 e início de 1994.
