foi um projeto americano de indie folk, indie rock e experimental de Olympia, Washington. O projeto foi fundado em 1996 e encerrado em 2003, com um breve retorno em 2007 e revivals em 2019 e 2020-2022. Em todas as formações do The Microphones, o único membro permanente da banda foi Phil Elverum. Elverum é o principal compositor e produtor dos álbuns da banda, mas um elenco rotativo de vários outros músicos participa de suas gravações e turnês. Muitas das gravações de Elverum do período inicial do projeto foram lançadas pela gravadora K Records. Microphones in 2020 é é o quinto e último álbum de estúdio da banda americana de indie folk e indie rock The Microphones. Trata-se de um álbum conceitual composto por uma única música de 44 minutos sobre a vida e a carreira musical do vocalista Phil Elverum. Elverum fundou o The Microphones em 1996, lançando quatro álbuns de estúdio antes de abandonar o nome em 2003. Ele optou por lançar sua música sob o nome Mount Eerie, pois sentia que os temas haviam mudado. Após realizar um show com o nome The Microphones em 2019, a atenção recebida motivou Elverum a retornar ao projeto.
