C G Em D They tear down our memorial stones in hopes to see us rot, C D Em G C But Christ is the stone on which all the Temple rests, C G Em D G So all our hope is safe above in heav'n where He is set. [Verso 5] G C D G Their altar they have made to sacrifice our young C G Em D With poisoned steel their blade is aimed into their hearts to plunge, C D Em G C Yet we will not give the heritage away, C G Em D G For we will guard our children's hearts against the sinners' way. C G Em D Their hungry souls, afflicted much, in broken pity lay. C D Em G C Now what is their hope, their balm of life, C G Em D G If not the Christian's healing word of Jesus' sacrifice? [Verso 8] G C D G Though many be our foes and sharpened be the sword C G Em D That glids the necks of valient men who shout redemption's word C D Em G C And many be the cries of souls oppressed, C G Em D G Yet still advancing is the word that brings to all men rest.
