Antes do contato ocidental, algumas tribos nativas americanas reconheciam indivíduos de terceiro gênero, cujos papeis sociais variavam de tribo para tribo. Pessoas que se vestiam e viviam de forma diferente dos papéis de gênero associados ao sexo atribuído ao nascer, contribuindo para diversos aspectos da história e da cultura americana, foram documentadas desde o século XVII até o presente. Nos séculos XX e XXI, avanços nas cirurgias de afirmação de gênero e no ativismo transgênero influenciaram a vida das pessoas transgênero e a percepção popular sobre elas nos Estados Unidos. Eisenhower é uma rede de autoestradas que faz parte do Sistema Rodoviário Nacional dos Estados Unidos. O sistema rodoviário foi nomeado em homenagem ao presidente Dwight D. Eisenhower, que defendeu a sua criação e planejamento. A construção da rede foi autorizada pelo "Ato de Ajuda Federal para Autoestradas" de 1956 e o traçado original foi concluído 35 anos depois.
